Congratulations to our joint winners Andrew Arens & Ben Schneider and Troy Miller & Peter Senftleben. Yes, we had a tie.

Our family winners were Sweet 16: Ali Hahn, Cyndi Hahn, Keri Wagner and Katherine Hartig (I don't think anyone had a better time except for maybe the team that finished well behind the pack but partook in all the available refreshments & were feeling no pain).

Specials kudos go out to team PMX-Train for completing all the tasks plus all of the bonus's while accompanied by a very well behaved one year old.

A wonderful team of ladies decided to be creative. Instead of getting a photo of two people doing a piggy back, they took a pricless photo of a pink PIGGY BANK. It

The first family was the Urban Marines - MIke LOCASCIO, Luke LoCASCIO & Clay Penca.

Here was the clue that caused a good deal of separation in the race:

The USS Minneapolis served in the Pacific theater of operations during World War II, and fought in many of the major sea battles. Get your picture with a bell for the USS Minneapolis.

As it turns out, there happens to be 2 USS Minneapolis bells in the metropolitan area. The one from the ship that served in WWII is located downtown next to the convention center. The other bell is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Calhoun, a good distance away from all the other checkpoints. The ship it comes from, also the USS MInneapolis, was commissioned in 1896 and decomissioned in 1921.

I learned a long time ago that some clues have more than one correct answer. That was the case with this clue:

Congratulations to Thomas Zabawa & Troy Lister of Dingalo wer the first team into the finish, but they took a photo instead of doing a dare and getting a stamp at one checkpoint. They went back out and did the dare and still got back in first place.

Urban Dare Dallas Winners

Urban Dare Dallas - Sat, May 1

Urban Dare Dallas runs this Saturday, May 1. We will kickoff at Noon. The race will start and finish at the Gingerman Pub at 2718 Boll St.

Race-day check-in will begin at 11:00am and we will be taking registration up to the start of the race.

This year we are relaxing our rule on having to wear Urban Dare shirts. If you have team costumes/uniforms, you may wear those. Otherwise, you must wear the Urban Dare shirts, which you will receive at check-in. We will have a $50 prize for the best costume.

You should bring a cell phone and a digital camera to show your pictures at the end of the race. A cell phone camera will work. Maps are also handy and you should have someone to call to help look up clues. I also recommend a pen or pencil to take notes.

Urban Dare, www.urbandare.com, is the race where smarts can beat speed. Teams of 2 solve clues to find checkpoints where they must take photos or perform dares.

Once you are out of the starting blocks, you will pick up your clue sheets and be on your way. You can call friends as much as you want for help on clues. Erik Carpenter & Tyrone Summers of the Jolly Rogers, 2 time DC champs & Urban
Dare's first national champion, got on board the metro at the Smithsonian at
the same time as the winners. There were long waits at the stations and
Margaret and Mark got off and went on foot. The Jolly Rogers stuck it out a
little longer before they got off and ran the rest of the way to come in
second.

Scott Woodcock & Matt Layman of Cockerson Enterprises took third place honors.

The Family Division was decided by a mere 10 seconds. Brody Garner, Karen

Urban Dare Phoenix Top 3 & First Family

My favorite 5:00 minute bonus, the 6-person pyramid, once again affected the outcome of a race.

Wayne Turner and Brent Armstrong of We Just Want to Beat Jill were the first team to cross the finish line, all of their photos checked out, but no bonus pyramid. We started checking the clock to watch 5:00 minutes tick off, to see if their first place finish would hold.

3 minutes and 10 seconds later the Rhonda Loos & Joy McCain of the Spicy Virgos crossed the finish line with Lex & Nicole Moest hot on their heels. Both teams had the bonus pyramid to give them first and second place respectively. Rachel Barrette & Delores Boyd of the Purple Rain Society, also with the bonus pyramid, took third place honors.

Da Reed-Os consisting of Kay, Ryan, Dusty & Connor Reed were the First Family. I am enjoying a growth in the family division, and hope the trend continues.

Super Dare Feb 26 - Mar 1

Super Dare is a three-day fun-filled adventure where you will compete on the ship and at ports of call for a $5000 grand prize.

Super Dare takes place on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas We depart from Miami on Friday, Feb 26 at 5 p.m., stop Saturday at Cococay Island, Sunday in Nassau, and arrive back in Miami on Monday morning. Friday evening will be trivia and games night, and you will have other required dares to do on the boat over the next few days. Saturday we will stop at Cococay Island where you will face some dares, and on Sunday we will run Urban Dare Nassau. The awards ceremony will be on Sunday evening where the winner will receive $5,000.

We’re looking forward to hosting a multi-day event, and will allow plenty of time for you to relax and have fun.

Here was our stumper clue: Get your picture with a guitar that is three stories tall. You will find it at (unscramble for 2 words) REALYTAVL Guitar.

Congratulations to Rex & Brett Miller, father and son team, who won with a time of 1:47:59.

Ryan and Amy Taylor were the only other team to finish under 2 hours. Jennifer Flowers & Jason Marienfield used their 5 minute bonus to pass Kellye Smith and Kristen Pfister and take third place.

For the stumper clue, many teams came back with a picture of the big guitar in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. It is well under three stories and you couldn't unscramble the word to form hard rock. Urban Dare Nashville - Sat, Oct 10

Urban Dare Nashville begins Saturday, October 10 at Noon at Hall of Fame Park.

Race-day check-in will begin at 11:00am and we will be taking registration up to the start of the race.

Our first place teams from the 2009 series win a 3-day Caribbean Cruise, where they will compete in the first ever Super Dare. Racers will compete on the boat, and at our 2 ports of call. It will be 3 days of fun and games on the last weekend of February 2010. Super Dare winners will receive $5,000.

We now have a family division. I've always allowed kids to race with their parents, but never made an official division. Family divisions can be three or four people and must have one person 16 or under.

This year we are relaxing our rule on having to wear Urban Dare shirts. If you have team costumes/uniforms, you may wear those. Otherwise, you must wear the Urban Dare shirts, which you will receive at check-in. We will have a $50 prize for the best costume.

You should bring a cell phone and a digital camera to show your pictures at the end of the race. A cell phone camera will work. Maps are also handy and you should have someone to call to help look up clues. I also recommend a pen or pencil to take notes.

Urban Dare, www.urbandare.com, is the race where smarts can beat speed. Teams of 2 solve clues to find checkpoints where they must take photos or perform dares.

Once you are out of the starting blocks, you will pick up your clue sheets and be on your way. You can call friends as much as you want for help on clues. For the checkpoints that mention a dare, you must check in with the Urban Dare official, accomplish your task, and get your passport stamped before moving on. On checkpoints that mention a photo, you must get a photo with both team members to show you were both there.

This is a team race. You must be together throughout the race. You may walk, run or use public transportation to get to checkpoints.

At checkpoints with dares, you must accomplish a task and get your passport stamped to move on to the next checkpoint. Dares range from throwing a bulls-eye, doing a climbing wall, completing a puzzle or eating something (things people like, not bugs).

We expect the winners will finish the race in about 2 hours and most of you will finish under 4 hours. We are working to provide a fun-filled day for you, while providing some good challenges.

The closest we had to a stumper clue was:

"Do bells whisper? Yes, when they are tolling of freedom. Get your picture with these bells."

Congratulations to Ed Wagner and Ryan Vellia who won with a time of 2:01:43. They win the Super Dare Cruise.

Mary Baker & Erica Scopino of the Lovely Lolitas finished second. Trang Nguyen & Kristy Chernin came in third place. They narrowly beat the Boulangerie Babes who suffered a 1 minute penalty for getting a picture of the Florence inscription instead of the Tel Aviv inscription at Sister City Plaza.

Donna, Mel, Heather & Jimmy Mchugh along with Donna Garrett were the first family team.

On the stumper clue, most teams correctly came back with a picture of the Whispering Bells of Freedom sculpture in front of the African American Museum. A few came back with a picture of the Liberty Bell. Then again, after it was cracked, it no longer tolled. Perhaps it whispers, too.
